Caelum McCall is an artist and illustrator working out of Hillsborough, North Carolina. His favored medium is pen and ink applied layer by layer with washes, ink pencils, and dry brush.
Caelum’s work centers around documenting the affairs of an imaginary world that he has envisioned since his childhood. He draws inspiration from myth, folklore, urban legends, abandoned structures, and the convergence of the human and natural worlds. The synthesis of these elements provides a new perspective on our delicate state of being in a world that is as nurturing as it is unforgiving.

Myth, folklore, urban legends, the simultaneous brutality and beauty of the natural world, abandoned structures, spirits, mortality, the yearning to understand something…or anything at all about the universe.

By in large I work in pen and ink. I most often use micron pens ( specifically .005 tip), Inktense ink pencils, and Dr. Ph. Martin’s Bombay India Inks.
My favorite papers are Strathmore 500 series Mixed Media and Strathmore 3-ply Illustration Plate.

It varies a lot with how much work I am juggling at the given moment, but feel free to check if I am accepting commissions at the moment!
